Welcome to the Southern Region SMaRtlink newsletter page.  SMaRtlink is an electronic newsletter that will be sent to schools twice a term, except for term 4 when one newsletter will be sent. Its purpose is to assist teachers to gain access quickly to the latest information on educational websites. This will assist teachers as they plan curriculum, engage in professional development and strive to improve student learning outcomes. There is also a section of the newsletter with information that will assist parents to gain access to relevant information on education.

This edition of SMaRtlink focuses on assessment information and reporting advice. Assessment information includes professional development, support information and a glossary of terms. Frequently asked questions are a feature of this newsletter. Links are made to ‘The Principles of Learning and Teaching’ and ‘The Victorian Essential Learning Standards’. Progression points are explained with links to assessment maps and work samples in English and Mathematics from the VCAA website.

This special edition of Smartlink is to clarify to schools the process for reporting student achievement in 2006 for schools that have either OPTED IN or OPTED OUT to use the new Student Report Card.
